Abstract

Problems in tunnel construction are caused by inadequate lining structures or other construction complications. The corrugated-steel-plate-reinforcement method has been used to improve the stability of the lining. However, the phenomenon of insufficient grouting occurred during the grouting process. The indoor test and numerical simulation of two research reinforcement methods were performed without corrugated steel plate and with corrugated-steel-plate reinforcement under suboptimal grouted lining conditions. The results indicate that, for both arch springing and arch crown with 30° of insufficient grouting under the corrugated-steel-plate reinforcement, the load-bearing capacity decreased by approximately 7% to 10% compared with fully grouted conditions. The axial force in the arch crown with 30° of inadequate grouting under the corrugated-steel-plate reinforcement decreased by approximately 12.5% compared with fully grouted conditions, thereby increasing the risk of structural collapse. Under the biased loading in the arched shoulder, the 45° of inadequate grouting at the vault reduced the displacement value of the arch shoulder by more than 12.42% compared with the 30° of inadequate grouting at the vault. Under skewed loading at the arch crown with a range of 30°, the displacement value decreased by approximately 21.93% for 30° of grouting insufficiency compared with fully grouted conditions.
