Application of adjustable suture technique based on intraocular loop method in fixation of intraocular lens: a single-center study
Abstract
PURPOSE: This study aims to describe a new adjustable suture scleral fixation technique and demonstrate its feasibility and safety. METHOD: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 14 patients (14 eyes) who underwent this new adjustable suture technique based on the intraocular loop method between January 2023 and December 2024, with a minimum follow-up of 3 months. Data gathered included the patient’s age, gender, best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), previous eye conditions, and any complications that occurred during or after surgery. The main outcome measures focused on changes in BCVA, IOP, and complications both during and after the procedure. RESULT: The results demonstrated significant improvement in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) postoperatively (P = 0.001), while intraocular pressure (IOP) remained stable (P = 0.42). All IOLs were well-centred and stable throughout the follow-up period, with no significant intraoperative or postoperative complications observed. CONCLUSION: The advantages of the adjustable suture technique based on the intraocular loop method include its simplicity, adjustability, and suitability for complex cases such as IOL dislocation or aphakia.
