Abstract

Abstract The main objective of this review article is to emphasize the significance of aluminum metal matrix composites (AMMCs) over conventional aluminum alloys in engineering applications. It explores the impact of fabrication techniques and various types of reinforcements on the properties of AMMCs. This review is based on systematic analysis of existing literature drawn from numerous journals published over the past years. It discusses different fabrication methods—including liquid-state, solid-state, and other techniques—and the use of various reinforcement materials such as natural, synthetic, and industrial waste products. These reinforcements play a crucial role in enhancing the mechanical, wear, and microstructural properties of the fabricated composites. The selected research are evaluated, compared, and classified to determine major trends, discoveries, and improvements in AMMC technology. The findings show that AMMCs have much better mechanical and physical qualities than standard aluminum alloys, including higher tensile strength, hardness, and wear resistance, making them more appropriate for demanding engineering applications. Furthermore, the fabrication method used effects the uniformity of reinforcement distribution as well as the quality of bonding inside the matrix. This paper examines several reinforcement kinds and processing methodologies to provide complete insights into performance gains, application potential, and future research prospects. It is a significant resource for researchers and professionals working in advanced materials development and engineering design.
