A Cancer Disparities Focus Without Acronyms
Abstract
A student worries that their nearly completed doctoral project, which samples historically vulnerable populations, will require a sharp turn. A colleague asks in a hushed tone if they need to remove the word “equity” from their care model business case. An author asks whether to remove descriptive statistics, detailing a sample’s age, race, gender, and educational background, from their manuscript. The 2025 Executive Order 14168 (Federal Register, 2026), which prompted the removal of numerous diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts, has spurred public and private discourse.
