Human Infertility
Abstract
Introspection afforded by the hominid brain has unraveled a great number of mysteries regarding reproduction, in particular why coitus does not always result in pregnancy. Our knowledge of human reproduction has expanded over three millennia, ignited during the Renaissance era and accelerating with discoveries over the past two centuries that reveal some of the roots of human infertility. Advances in technology enabled diagnosis and, in some cases, ingenuity to identify cures to this societal scourge.
