Abstract

Physiologies and technologies that foster reproduction are essential for species survival, yet some circumstances select for suppression of reproductive capabilities to favor outcomes for a particular species. A classic example is seasonal reproduction, in which reproductive processes are suppressed during specific times of the year (see Chapter 18 ). Alternatively, one species can advance its own reproductive success by interfering with the reproduction of another species.
