Abstract

Anthropic activities result in negative externalities both in the provision of ecosystem services and in the natural processes of the Geosphere. Menegat (2010) cites Mumford (1970 [1938] p. 316), who states that the city is an earthly form of expression of regional individuality . For Mumford, the city, even when extremely large, had “its shape conditioned by topography and the nature of the land”.
