Abstract

Does the colour of your skin matter? Why should cultural humility have a place in the veterinary profession? A personal reflection on lived experiences in the veterinary world as a Hindu, Kenyan Indian with vitiligo. From interactions as a student on extramural rotations on farms to a clinician in a small animal practice and then to an educator, Neerja shares her insights on how appearance shapes conversations and explores race in the veterinary profession. She raises a few questions for exploration and invites the initiation of these conversations at all levels in the veterinary world.
