Abstract

Climate change is a global problem that requires global solutions. At the same time, efforts must be made at national, state, and local levels. Mitigation offers an opportunity to address the root cause of climate change and affect the trajectory of global warming. Texas is uniquely positioned to act in ways that alter the course of the most devastating impacts of climate change by choosing to mitigate the potential harms, while also planning for resiliency in the midst of a changing climate. This chapter addresses recent action and inaction on climate change in Texas and policy implications. Additionally, I explore policy as a tool for addressing wicked problems, particularly climate change.
