Plant and Animal Biotechnology Innovation Action Plan
Abstract
Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary field that involves the integration of natural lores and specialized lores to achieve the use of organisms and their corridor for products and services. In other words, it is a technology that uses biological systems to manufacture products for human welfare. The application of biotechnology is diverse, as it is involved in numerous activities of domestic as well as commercial contexts. It has been practiced for ages for fermentation and livestock improvement, but in the contemporary era, it has evolved very rapidly. Biotechnology’s impact is evident in almost all the activities that are performed in households as well as laboratories. Biotechnology is being used in most of the biological explorations. On the whole, it is studied in two broad categories, viz. plant biotechnology and animal biotechnology. Plant biotechnology is involved in many activities like crop improvement for higher yield, development of hybrid crops, pest control, and research purposes, whereas animal biotechnology finds applications in various areas like research and development of medicines as well as vaccines, genetic modification of animals, development of diagnostic techniques, etc. Both plant and animal biotechnology are experiencing huge advancements to tackle the prominent issues of today, like easy diagnosis and treatment of diseases and the introduction of high-yield and disease-resistant crops by using new biotechnological techniques.
