Abstract

The world’s energy demand mostly depends on fossil fuels, which are non-renewable and exhaustible and pose a threat to the environment by emitting greenhouse gases (GHGs), subsequently accelerating the rate of climate change. The transition from depleting, fossil-based, environment-degrading, non-renewable energy sources towards inexhaustible, non-fossil-based, renewable and energy-efficient technologies is a crucial step towards sustainability and circular economy. Many countries like the US, Brazil and India are promoting and utilizing renewable energy sources like solar, wind, nuclear and bioenergy to fulfill their energy demands. Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) can play a pivotal role in achieving these goals. There are numerous NGOs throughout the world working actively to amplify the efforts of governments to meet energy demands.
