Abstract

Population growth and technological developments have increased energy demands, particularly in the present era. Fossil fuels, due to their limited availability and harmful nature to the environment, necessitate the use of cleaner and sustainable energy sources. Renewable energy sources will not diminish over time, and the transition in their direction is presently going on worldwide. Many countries, like the U.S., China, India, and Brazil, are promoting their use and development to meet their energy demands. This chapter presents the U.S. scenario in the energy sector and the current energy transition going on, highlighting the problems with its energy infrastructure and the country’s efforts in the direction of fulfilling energy demands.
