Abstract

Hybrid materials, formed by combining organic compounds with nanostructured inorganic compounds at the molecular level, are a prominent focus of research and technological advancement. Organic–inorganic hybrid nanomaterials represent innovative materials, which unite organic and inorganic constituents at the nanoscale. They exploit the combined strengths of both organic and inorganic elements through hybridization leading to materials with unique and enhanced characteristics. The area of hybrid nanomaterials is experiencing rapid growth and continuous expansion due to increasing demands for advanced material properties to fulfill the energy demand. The introduction of inorganic components improves the AC conductivity, dielectric parameters, optical properties, thermal stability, and electrical conductivity in the organic component making it suitable for different applications, particularly in energy storage devices. Hybrid materials show great potential in this context due to their ability to have tunable structural and electrical properties, which make them appealing options for switchable dielectric materials. The synergistic combination of both organic and inorganic components is expected to address the limitations of each constituent, resulting in enhanced charge mobility, dielectric polarization, AC conductivity, dielectric strength, dielectric constant, and loss. These dielectric properties make them highly desirable for various applications in energy storage devices, sensors, electronics, microelectronic industry, electrode materials, and electromagnetic energy absorption. This development remarkably enhances the quality of life due to these tailored properties, which enhance its dielectric properties, thermal, optical, electrochemical, and ferroelectric properties. This chapter mainly discusses the recent progress in organic–inorganic nanohybrids, different synthesis process of various nanohybrids, and mainly its dielectric properties, which are tailored for various capacitive applications, and energy storage devices. This study aims to provide insights into the present challenges, suggest potential solutions to improve the dielectric properties, and predict emerging trends of organic–inorganic hybrid materials using various components to get the desired properties for high-performance dielectric applications.
