Abstract

These days, the study of nanomaterials is a rapidly developing topic of study that has attracted remarkable attention because of its special qualities. They have several applications in the energy, environmental, and medical domains, among other disciplines. One must characterize the nanomaterials using existing characterization techniques in order to obtain the necessary property profile of the nanomaterials for a particular application. Characterizing and quantifying different qualities is a fascinating challenge that the scientific community is dealing with. Nanomaterials’ optical, thermal, and physicochemical properties are mostly determined by their characterization. Numerous equipments are available for assessing these attributes; the most commonly used ones are UV vis, dynamic light scattering, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, vibrating sample magnetometers, and magnetic force microscopy. Characterization according to attributes, instruments, and probe usage is categorized in this chapter. Each technique’s benefits and downsides are briefly covered. Overall, this chapter provides a comprehensive overview of nanomaterial characterization methods.
