Biobutanol Production and Analysis
Abstract
Biobutanol is considered a next-generation fuel due to its distinct physical and chemical properties, which make it more efficient compared to other biofuels. One method for producing biobutanol involves the anaerobic fermentation of lignocellulosic biomass. However, challenges such as high production costs, lengthy processing times, and the sporulation stage, which hinders solvent production, pose significant barriers. Numerous studies have explored ways to overcome these challenges. Solutions have emerged through the use of innovative reactor designs and advanced preparation techniques. This study will extensively examine the current challenges faced in biobutanol production, as well as highlight proposed research efforts aimed at overcoming these issues. It will provide an overview of various production techniques and mechanisms, including recent advancements, with a detailed discussion on intensification methods for biobutanol production. Furthermore, the review will explore biobutanol&s;s properties, its compatibility with engines, its global scenario, and the obstacles hindering its commercialization.
