Abstract

Technological advancements and the usage of electronics and telecommunications equipment have led to an increase in electromagnetic pollution. Living things are harmed by electromagnetic radiation as well as the electromagnetic waves released by electronic systems and gadgets disrupt nearby devices, degrade service, and impair task precision. Synthetic polymer composites are being used more often as EM radiation shielding materials, which results in a significant quantity of e-waste being produced. Environmentally speaking, the disposal and recycling of these materials are major concerns. Therefore, it is determined that in order to shield electronic equipment from electromagnetic interference and the environment from EM radiation, the right shielding material is required. Nanocomposites that are naturally sustainable have been discovered to be appropriate for shielding against electromagnetic interference (EMI) because of their low cost, low toxicity, lightweight nature, and environmental friendliness. This chapter examines the physics of EMI shielding, common synthesis techniques as well as recent advancements in sustainable nanocomposite materials for EMI shielding applications.
