Abstract

Nanotechnology has significant applications in the textile industry due to its stability, compatibility, and antimicrobial properties. In the current scenario, nanocomposites are being preferred for textile fibers due to their high degree of mechanical strength, stability, and eco-friendly nature. Nanocomposites have variations due to using different types of composite materials by different techniques. Their mechanical strength can be improved using specific nanofillers with fiber material. This chapter discusses the applications of nanomaterials in the textiles industry, as well as their impact on the environment and health. The synthetic approaches for the development of metallic and biodegradable nanocomposites have been extensively discussed. The effect of these textile nanocomposites on the environment, societal life, and their regulation has also been discussed in this chapter.
