Abstract

This chapter discusses the importance of communicating games user research insights effectively through reports and debriefs. It outlines how to tailor report structure depending on team needs and constraints researchers may face (e.g. limited time). The general structure of the research report is outlined, together with ways of organizing insights (e.g. “The good vs the bad”, priority, components, themes, and as a participant journey). The role of peer review in improving report quality is highlighted. Next, this chapter discusses formats for debrief sessions with the team (i.e. lecture-like, presentation with discussion, and workshop) with tips on adapting format to the needs of the team, context, and time available. Lastly, researchers’ attitude and reactions to teams’ concerns and questions during debrief are highlighted, as a vital part of effectively communicating insights.
