Concept Test
Abstract
This chapter covers concept testing as a valuable method during the early conception phase of the game production cycle, when creative vision is still forming. By presenting early game assets (e.g. sketches, narrative beats, prototype walkthroughs) to potential players, insights on how these elements resonate emotionally, what excites or puts off players, can be uncovered. This chapter outlines a structured approach to concept testing through interviews or surveys. This chapter highlights practical tips and common pitfalls with the method. This chapter also includes real-life examples of using the method.
