AIoT-Adopted Sustainable Smart Eco-Friendly Home Systems
Abstract
Smart home deployments, integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, represent a burgeoning field with significant potential for enhancing convenience, efficiency, and security within residential settings. Despite escalating interest and investment in these technologies, a comprehensive examination of real-world implementations and their outcomes remains lacking, hindering the understanding of factors contributing to successful deployments. The attempt made in this study is to reveal the importance of factors like user requirements, compatibility of the devices, privacy and security in getting the desired results, and satisfaction among the users. One of its goals is to know the issues and concerns encountered in actual smart home installations for research purposes concerning future smart home IoT applications. By providing systematic case study of smart home implementations of different organizations, this research aims to fill the gap existing in the literature concerning the actual smart home deployments. The information offered in the chapter will be helpful for extending the knowledge of the IoT application in the household domain for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers. The research is underpinned by an examination of real-life smart home success stories. This approach is helpful in a way that it allows for the recognition of the crucial aspects of the work like user requirement, compatibility of devices, privacy, and security measures that are applied to these implementations. From these results, we glean that there are a number of complex elements that are requisite for effective smart home deployments. These depend not only on the progress in the field of technology but also on the approach to targeting users’ needs, the proper means of incorporating various devices, and, finally, the observance of data protection and security. This chapter shows that effective implementations are those which cover all these factors.
