A Novel Approach for Design and Implementation of Optimized Robust High-Capacity Video Steganography
Abstract
It has been concluded from the literature review of video steganography techniques that a trade-off exists in achieving satisfactory values of imperceptibility, robustness, concealing capacity, security, and computational overhead. In the proposed research work, an optimized robust high-capacity video steganography technique is designed and developed for real-life applications. The high concealing capacity is achieved by preprocessing secret data using JPEG compression. Video cover files also improve the concealing capacity as well as robustness of the technique because of its large size and dynamic nature. The region of interest is chosen using OpenCV to hide secret data rather than scatter it on the complete video frame. Consequently, the computational expenses of this hybrid approach increased. The OpenCV and JPEG compression hybrid is optimized for computational overhead using the Integer Wavelet Transform. The Integer Wavelet Transform actually conceals secret information in the transform domain. The results are then evaluated based on the parameters–-concealing capacity, robustness, imperceptibility, concealing time, and retrieval time. Additionally, the novel video steganography technique developed in this research is compared with some state-of-the-art methods. The comparison results witness the improved performance of the research work. The conclusion of the research work supports the initial achievement of the objectives proposed.
