A Substitution-Based Reliable and Stable Video Steganography to Hide Multimedia Files
Abstract
With the widespread use of the web for information exchange, ensuring information security has become essential. To protect data shared online, various techniques have been developed. Among them, cryptography, watermarking, and steganography play crucial roles. In this chapter, the authors propose a substitution-based video-steganography technique aimed at securing multimedia files. The approach involves replacing pixels within a suitable Region of Interest (ROI) in the cover video to embed secret information, which can be in the form of text, PDF, image, audio, or video. This chapter includes a comprehensive analysis of the proposed method’s reliability, security, and computational complexity. Security-evaluation metrics such as Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), histogram analysis, Mean Squared Error (MSE), and entropy are used to assess the quality and imperceptibility of the embedded data. Additionally, the embedding and extraction times are measured to evaluate the method’s complexity. To validate its effectiveness, the proposed technique is also compared with a traditional substitution method.
