Abstract

These days, microfinance institutions are in charge of promoting women’s empowerment through social and economic advancement. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between microfinance and women’s empowerment in the districts of Khurda and Sambalpur. A key instrument for accomplishing the more general objectives of sustainable development and encouraging women’s empowerment is microfinance. When evaluating women’s empowerment, it’s important to include their income, savings, ownership of assets, capacity for making decisions, and mobility, among other things. The fundamental data for the study was provided by the 960 women who participated in microfinance programs in certain regions of Odisha. The data was gathered using a convenience sample approach and a five-point Likert scale. The researchers used the SPSS tool’s “Cross Tab” approach to determine the result. The results show a considerable growth in their income and savings. Compared to non-participants, their level of confidence in their capacity to move on in life was higher. According to the report, microfinance significantly affects women’s empowerment. These results highlight the importance of microfinance as a means for bringing about social change and decreasing poverty, two important aspects of increasing women’s empowerment.
