Abstract

The selection of the place to collect one increment within the lot is a punctual decision based on the appropriate selection mode decided upon to optimize the sampling protocol. The actual volume to be collected around that point must have boundaries that are such that equiprobabilistic sampling can be achieved; there is no compromise possible with this stringent condition. The correctness or non-correctness of the increment delimitation is a structural property, and it is entirely up to management, manufacturers, engineering firms, and regulators to have control over it to prevent negative effects (i.e., biases) that would take place for the lifetime of a selected sampling system.
