Abstract

The importance of this chapter is paramount for anyone designing, building, installing, and maintaining sampling systems in a processing plant. Furthermore, most of the information presented in this chapter should be present in sampling standards. We know that all the fragments having their center of gravity inside the model extended increment belong to the model fragmental increment. Furthermore, we know that if the rebounding rule is respected, the actual fragmental increment is strictly equivalent to its correct fragmental model. If these conditions are fulfilled the extraction of the actual fragmental increment does not introduce any new error and it can be stated that the increment extraction error is nil. We may wonder why the center of gravity, and the rebounding rule are so important to achieve a correct extraction. An in-depth analysis of the rebounding rule gives the answers to these questions.
