Abstract

This chapter explores the potential of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based hyperspectral imagery as a non-destructive tool for informed support decisions in orchard management. It presents an overview of this technology&s;s applications across several crops, with special attention on peach—one of the world&s;s most significant fruit tree species. Two case studies illustrate how hyperspectral imagery can evaluate management practices aimed at mitigating stress in peach cultivation. The first study examines measures to combat peach rust, while the second investigates strategies to reduce water stress during early tree growth stages. The results confirm that timely hyperspectral analysis enhances orchard management by providing critical insights into tree health, potentially supplementing or even replacing manual field surveys.
