Assessment of bridges using dynamic monitoring and sparse autoencoders
Abstract
Dynamic monitoring of bridges and structures, complemented by the automation of operational modal analysis (OMA), represents a well-known strategy in structural health monitoring (SHM), mainly based on the correlation between modal and structural parameters. However, modal parameters are sensitive not only to mass and stiffness changes but also to environmental and operational variability (EOV). As environmental and operational factors can significantly influence modal parameters, it is crucial to mitigate the effects of EOV to avoid false positives when detecting structural anomalies and changes.
