Abstract

In recent years, the potential of operational modal analysis and finite element model updating for nondestructive structural evaluation has gained considerable attention within the research community. To reduce the computational demand typically associated with model updating procedures, various approximation techniques have been developed. Among these, response surface methodologies and the Douglas-Reid (DR) method have emerged as particularly prominent. Despite their growing popularity, systematic studies investigating the parameters that influence the performance of these methods—especially in the context of structural health monitoring (SHM)—remain relatively scarce.
