Stochastic modal appropriation method
Abstract
The estimate of the modal parameters of a dynamic system in operating conditions can provide engineers and researchers with additional insights into its dynamic properties, as the effects of artificial boundary conditions, typical of laboratory tests, no longer affect the experimental data. Moreover, the modal parameters estimated under operational conditions reflect the structure in its proper operating configuration, thus considering the possible effects of the loading conditions. Indeed, such loading conditions can change the system’s equilibrium configuration—where small vibrations are evaluated—from the one where no loading is applied.
