Abstract

Adapting to climate change through nature-based solutions (NbS) is a potential strategy, especially in the context of smart cities. NbS integrate ecological, social, and technological solutions to improve urban resilience while utilising natural processes to address environmental concerns. The use of NbS in a smart city paradigm is examined in this abstract, with a particular emphasis on how they can lessen the effects of climate change—such as heat waves, flooding, and air pollution—while fostering sustainability and enhancing urban quality of life. Smart cities may effectively adopt NbS through real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, and smart infrastructure. Smart cities are defined by advanced digital technology and data-driven governance. Green roofs, rain gardens, permeable pavements, and urban green spaces are examples of NbS that help manage stormwater, improve biodiversity, and cool urban environments. The Internet of Things’ (IoT) integration connects devices with your applications and databases, enabling streamlined data flow and automation. By combining IoT and AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology, cities can maximise these solutions’ performance and make sure they dynamically adjust to changing weather conditions. Smart city frameworks with a participatory approach can encourage community involvement and guarantee that NbS are culturally relevant and fairly distributed.
