Abstract

Oracles represent an emerging technology with the potential to transform construction data management by providing a secure bridge between blockchain networks and real-world, off-chain information. As construction sites generate massive volumes of data – from sensor readings to compliance records – this approach can facilitate near real-time updates in blockchain-based systems, paving the way for more agile and automated workflows . By incorporating oracles alongside AI and machine learning, construction firms could harness predictive insights that inform proactive decision-making, risk management, and quality assurance. Diverse data feeds – collected through hardware and software oracles – would not only streamline project tasks such as approvals and payment releases but also bolster the integrity of on-chain data through consensus-based verification . As new solutions and tools continue to emerge, these oracle-driven mechanisms hold promise for enabling real-time collaboration across multiple stakeholders, ensuring transparency throughout the supply chain and laying the groundwork for a more sustainable, efficient, and data-focused Construction 4.0 ecosystem. While the practical applications of oracle-based systems in construction are still evolving, early indicators suggest that embracing these innovations could significantly enhance productivity, accountability, and resource optimisation – ultimately positioning construction enterprises to meet the sector’s growing demands and complexity with greater confidence .
