Abstract

A review of climate issues is presented in chapter 1 , including the roots of greenhouse effect research, likely outcomes, and observed extreme weather trends. While it is still not too late for mitigation, we are rapidly approaching climatic “tipping points”, beyond which climatic change may take on self-reinforcing and irreversible properties, potentially beyond repair and surely with dire consequences for human society and nature.
