Abstract

Much under the radar of environmental concerns are the enormous growth of new chemicals, varieties of chemicals and uses, and potential combinations of “new entities” with all elements of human and nature environments. New entities affect human and animal health, but the exposure tends to be small and long-lasting, making it very difficult to identify causality and health consequences. Plastics are new entities of easy identification, but even so the global community has been slow to come up with control and waste treatment. For the spread of microplastics and nano-plastics there is as yet little knowledge of impact and little engagement for control.
