Abstract

Flowers are aesthetic components of plants and rich reservoirs of diverse secondary metabolites with remarkable therapeutic potential. These bioactive compounds, including flavonoids, phenolics, carotenoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and phytosterols, have a key role in plant defense and ecological interactions. They are increasingly recognized for their pharmacological benefits in human health. This chapter highlights the major classes of secondary metabolites of flowers and their therapeutic potential, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-virus, and hypoglycemic. These potential sources of bioactive compounds could transform the health, functional foods, cosmetic, and nutraceutical industries, offering innovative approaches to combat diseases and promote optimal well-being.
