Abstract

The escalating global burden of antimicrobial resistance underscores the urgent need for alternative antimicrobial agents. The chapter discusses the broad spectrum of antimicrobial substances in flowers and how they fight off microbes, including possible applications in varied contexts. Floral antimicrobials have applications in food storage life extension, accelerated wound healing, the development of new antibiotics, and new agricultural procedures. Nevertheless, additional factors must be considered, such as antibiotic activity unpredictability, concerns about safety, and production sustainability. The present chapter gives insights into the potential of floral-derived antimicrobials as a significant tool in the battle against antibiotic resistance and provides an overview of the current state of knowledge within this area.
