Abstract

Ineffective resource management and water shortages provide major obstacles to the sustainability of the world’s water supply. To guarantee effective water distribution and use, creative solutions are needed to address the growing demand for water as well as the effects of climate change. New scenarios can be examined in collaboration with important stakeholders to create effective water management regulations and put sustainable water allocation strategies into practice. By addressing social and economic issues and emphasizing environmental sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations aim to raise the standard of living for people in developed, emerging, and developing nations. At the same time, data-driven technologies have a profound impact on our lives in every way and have brought about significant changes in the economy and society. The application of water supply mapping based on the Internet of Things (IoT) for sustainable water management is examined in this chapter. Patterns of water distribution and use can be efficiently tracked and examined by utilizing IoT technology, such as smart sensors and real-time data collection systems. In summary, this chapter demonstrates how IoT-based technologies can enhance sustainable water management initiatives, transforming water supply systems and paving the way for more robust and data-driven strategies to tackle global water issues.
