Abstract

For novice animators and working professionals facing ever-tightening deadlines, it is imperative to know how to best start an animation to set it up for success. Over the course of many years observing students and juniors in learning and studio settings, it is apparent that many workflows taught in schools fall short when it comes to creating an overall awareness of the lifespan of a shot. In other words, animators following workflows carried over from cel animation are not seeing the forest for the trees.
