Abstract

This chapter examines the real estate sector’s transition to a circular economy and multidisciplinary society. This transition necessitates a new way of thinking and working. The real estate industry faces profound changes, including digitisation and the integration of smart technologies such as blockchain and smart contracts. Blockchain technology can eliminate intermediaries, reducing costs. Additionally, the future demands a more flexible use of buildings and a stronger focus on circularity. Smart building and development will make the built environment more energy-efficient, sustainable, and user-friendly. An integrated approach that combines social, ecological, and economic aspects is essential for achieving long-term sustainability. Buildings and neighbourhoods are increasingly designed to regulate energy, support environmental goals, and contribute to well-being and affordability.
