Abstract

Efficient monitoring and management of environmental data have been at the helm of affairs, given the vast amount of pollutants/environmental hazards injected into the environment due to industrial effluents. The state-of-the-art methods rely on time-intensive and costly batch procedures. This chapter provides an overview of the challenges and issues related to environmental data analysis and processing. It covers the standard batch processes involved in environmental data analysis, followed by an introduction to the latest computational intelligence tools and techniques, which can come in handy in evolving effective and robust solutions to the environmental data analysis problem. Applications of the discussed tools and techniques have also been elaborated to establish the significance of the latest trends in technology.
