Abstract

Interdisciplinary approaches are crucial in addressing the significant issue of environmental pollution resulting from rapid industrialization. This chapter elucidates different such approaches in this direction. The conventional batch processes for monitoring environmental pollution will always remain a crucial component of the recently evolving intelligent methods, culminating in a sustainable society. Evolving intelligent methods are often data-hungry; hence, traditional processes supplement these intelligent methods by providing real-time, environment-sensitive data and vital parameters essential for their successful operation. Furthermore, this coupling between traditional and intelligent methods would usher in a new direction for research on sustainability issues.
