Abstract

The combination of the Internet of Things and the renewable energy technology solar tracking system has opened up new sustainable energy generation strategies. This chapter explores the recent developments and foreseeable advancements in e-sufficient enterprise and “Industry 4.0” IoT-based solar tracking systems. The tracking systems continuously adjust their position of the solar panels to maintain the best angle relative to the sun&s;s position throughout the day, leading to energy output compared to fixed-mounted panels. This chapter provides the ways in which IoT aids in the improvement of solar energy collection and how IoT solar trackers are to be integrated with smart electricity systems. The convergence of Internet of Things-based solar trackers and Industry 4.0 has recently surfaced as a potent method of improving the overall efficiency of solar energy production processes. The design of effective solar tracking systems is also examined, highlighting the importance of accurate sun position algorithms and the integration of various components and technologies. This review focuses on the IoT in improving the harvesting of solar energy and the application of IoT-enabled solar trackers in the smart grid system for optimization and management of these systems in the context of Industry 4.0. The results show that embedding IoT with solar tracking systems and taking them to an extent of Industry 4.0 integration can achieve better performance in terms of productivity, cost, and environmental friendliness.
