Abstract

Herbal nanotechnology is gradually developing into a revolutionary new sector of science that utilizes nanotechnological approaches to use the medicinal properties of herbal extracts to identify the health hazardous molecules. This research is based on the interdisciplinary concept of using nanoparticles and plant extracts as new indications of detection with fewer or no side effects in comparison to the existing ones. Substitution with herbal nanomaterials in diagnostic tools and biosensors enhances the sensitivity, specificity, and biocompatibility to identify toxic substances including heavy metals, pesticides, and pathogens at insufficient concentrations. The synthesis method and application of herbal-based nanomaterials in health hazard detection is discussed in this chapter with an emphasis on how they might revolutionize environmental security and public health monitoring. Furthermore, future prospects and challenges to this emerging technology are discussed with an emphasis on the need for more research to ensure regulatory acceptance and improve performance.
