Abstract

The increasing frequency of extreme weather events (EWEs), rising temperatures, and environmental degradation caused by climate change pose significant risks to human health. This study thoroughly examines the intersection between climate change and public health, with a special focus on the changing diseases patterns, including infectious diseases, respiratory illnesses, and heat-related conditions and emergence of new diseases. Climate change is contributing to the spread of infectious diseases, as warming temperatures and changing ecosystems create conducive environments for vectors such as mosquitoes. Moreover, EWEs, including floods and droughts, increase the risk of waterborne and foodborne diseases, while higher temperatures exacerbate respiratory conditions due to worsened air quality and heatwaves. Geoinformatics, encompassing GIS and remote sensing, plays a pivotal role in addressing these challenges. By providing real-time spatial data, geoinformatics can help track disease outbreaks, assess population vulnerability, and predict future health risks and environment degradation. This technological approach enables the development of early warning systems, which can guide emergency response efforts and inform public health interventions to safeguards. Furthermore, the research explores the necessity of effective communication strategies to foster collaboration among government agencies, health organizations, researchers, and communities. Enhancing public awareness and cooperation is critical to build resilience against climate change impacts on human health and environment. For sustainable health practices, continuous surveillance, mapping, and adaptive measures are necessary to safeguard global populations, especially in regions most vulnerable to climate-related health risks.
