2D Material-Based Flexible Electronics
Abstract
This chapter explores the emerging field of two-dimensional (2D) material-based flexible electronics, emphasizing graphene’s unique properties and diverse applications, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), and hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN). 2D materials, with their exceptional electrical, mechanical, and optical properties, have enabled the development of lightweight, transparent, and bendable devices that push the boundaries of modern electronics. It discusses key applications in flexible transistors, sensors, energy storage devices, and optoelectronics. It highlights their role in revolutionizing wearable electronics, portable healthcare systems, flexible energy solutions, and advanced display technologies. Furthermore, it addresses the challenges faced in scaling up the synthesis of 2D materials, integrating them into large-area devices, and ensuring long-term stability under mechanical strain. It outlines future directions in developing novel 2D materials with tailored properties, advancements in fabrication techniques, and the potential of emerging applications in wearable artificial intelligence (AI) and neuromorphic computing. Ultimately, this chapter highlights the transformative potential of 2D materials in shaping the next-generation flexible, energy-efficient, and multifunctional electronic devices.
