Abstract

Sensors are analytical devices responding to the presence, concentration, or activity of an analyte. Among various types of sensors, flexible sensors are interesting to researchers due to their properties, such as lightweight, wearability, portability, and high potential in human health monitoring and preparation of wearable electronic parts. The properties of the electrode surface have an important role in the performance of flexible sensors due to their effects on the selectivity, sensitivity, stability, and detection limit. One of the useful approaches is the use of two-dimensional (2D) materials in the design and preparation of new flexible sensors. Graphene and its derivatives (graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO)), chalcogenides, boron nitride, MXenes, and phosphorene are several 2D materials used in the preparation of flexible sensors. They can improve the selectivity and sensitivity of flexible sensors toward desired species through non-covalent interaction with the analyte. In this chapter, an overview of the application of 2D materials in the preparation of flexible sensors is provided.
