Abstract
People generally believe that natural molecules are inherently better than manufactured ones, and they have been crucial to the health care system’s efforts to avoid illness. One of the most important medicinal herbs in the human health care system is the climbing Ayurvedic plant Shatavari ( Asparagus racemosus ). Shatavari is regarded as a feminine tonic in Ayurveda. An essential component of many Ayurvedic medicines, Shatavari is a significant herb with various health advantages. India; the British Pharmacopoeia; and conventional medical systems like Ayurveda, Unani, and Siddha have all documented the plant’s therapeutic properties. This medication is mostly used to treat illnesses in women, especially those related to the menstrual cycle and as a galactagogue. Along with improving milk supply in nursing mothers, it additionally assists with epileptic seizures, hypertension, renal issues, chronic fevers, anxiety disorders, coughing, extreme heat, stomach ulcers, and liver cancer. Numerous secondary metabolites, such as steroids, alkaloids, compounds of dihydrophenanthrene, flavonoids, furan derivatives, and essential oils, are present in this plant. To demonstrate that it is a potent therapeutic medication for a range of illnesses, the scientific community is working on this medication from several angles.
