Case Study on Selection of High Entropy Alloys in Aerospace Applications
Abstract
High Entropy Alloys (HEAs), comprising multiple principal elements in near-equiatomic proportions, have garnered significant attention in recent years for their exceptional mechanical properties, high thermal stability, and resistance to oxidation and corrosion. These attributes are particularly appealing for aerospace applications, where materials are subjected to extreme environmental conditions, including high temperatures, mechanical stresses, and corrosive atmospheres. This review critically examines the development, processing, and performance of HEAs for aerospace applications, highlighting the underlying mechanisms contributing to their superior behavior, current limitations.
