Metal Perovskite Sulphides and Composites
Abstract
Metal perovskite sulphides (with the formula ABS 3 ) consist of various potential elements for the divalent cation A and tetravalent cation B. The optoelectronic properties of these materials are highly tunable through compositional modifications, enabling customization to meet the specific requirements of diverse optoelectronic applications. The discussion begins by examining the chemical and structural features of metal PVSK sulphides, with particular attention given to how stoichiometry, crystalline phase, and defects influence their electronic structures. Various synthesis methods, including solid-state reactions, flux-assisted growth, and solution-based processes, have been employed to produce metal perovskite sulphides. However, each method presents its own set of challenges. Strategies to overcome these limitations, such as crystallinity and purity improvement, were also discussed in detail. Furthermore, this chapter explores the electrical and optical properties of metal perovskite sulphides, detailing how compositional modifications can affect intrinsic properties such as electrical conductivity, optical behavior, and electronic properties, which are crucial for achieving high-performance optoelectronic devices. Finally, the prospective role of metal perovskite sulphides in sustainable energy technologies was considered, particularly in the fields of catalysis, energy storage, photovoltaics, and optoelectronics.
