Abstract

The development in photovoltaics and the optoelectronic field have attracted researchers’ attention particularly in material research. Chalcogenide perovskites are potential candidates for energy conversion applications, majorly for photovoltaics attributed to their robust, non-toxic and earth-abundant properties. The present chapter discusses compounds having ABX 3 perovskite structure where X is Se. Theoretical design of perovskite chalcogenide semiconductors has progressed over the past few years and also the experimental evidence demonstrates the synthesis of such compounds is possible substantiating the theoretical predictions. Although more experimental research work needs to be carried out to further confirm the theoretical predictions.
