Abstract

When consuming foods of animal origin (meat, milk, eggs, etc.) it is possible to come into contact with various toxic substances originating from foods of plant origin such as mycotoxins, veterinary drug and pesticide residues, endogenous toxicants of plants, and so forth. The list of endogenous animal food toxicants is not as long. Most distinctive is the toxicity of prions, proteins with distorted spatial structure.
